Jack Catterall and Regis Prograis are finally set to face off in Manchester this weekend as the Englishman challenges for the US man’s WBC super lightweight title.
The fight – which was originally scheduled for August – was postponed following an injury sustained by Catterall. The Brit will look to extend his 3-fight win streak when he heads to the new Co-op Arena this weekend.
Catterall has just one defeat on his record following a controversial split-decision loss to Josh Taylor back in 2022, a result which caused huge debate around the boxing world due to what looked like a comfortable win for Catterall. The Lancashire man avenged that sole defeat earlier this year sailing through to a decision win over the Scotsman in Leeds.
‘El Gato’ has no easy task as he takes on American veteran Regis Prograis. Prograis, a tricky southpaw with an aggressive style, has an impressive 29-2 record, racking up a massive 24 knockouts along the way, with his only two defeats coming to the world-class Devin Haney and Catterall’s old foe Josh Taylor, the New Orleans native will be looking to bounce back to winning ways and silence the partisan crowd this Saturday.
