Promotions that specialize in homegrown talents often get lost in the pecking order of the MMA hierarchal pyramid. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a Red River rocket rustler looking to ready the thrusters for a stratospheric liftoff in 2025 for the Sooner State at Lightweight. A professional mixed martial artist since February 2023 and representing Strike Martial Arts Academy, Triston Gwaltney holds an undefeated 3-0 record consisting of one submission, one knockout and one decision. He has fought for XFN and Legacy Fighting Alliance. Gwaltney has spent his entire tenure as a professional MMA fighter in the United States in his home state of Oklahoma and has finished two out of his three victories overall over the course of his career in the professional ranks. His one and only decision win has resulted in a unanimous verdict. Both of his finishes during his journey as a professional mixed martial artist have been inside the distance with one first-round finish under his belt alongside a single second-round finish to show for it. Gwaltney is 2-0 under the XFN banner with two finishes in two appearances with the promotion.
In his professional MMA debut and lone appearance under the Legacy Fighting Alliance banner at LFA 152, he faced Ryan Fathi and went on to defeat him via unanimous decision to secure his first decision win as a professional. Gwaltney defeated Gabriel Gideon at XFN 396 via technical knockout in round one to lock up his sole knockout victory as a professional. Then at XFN 397, he submitted Dey Mcintosh via rear-naked choke in the second round. The win earned Gwaltney the first submission victory of his professional career. He also notched his third consecutive win to start his professional journey in the process. At 3-0 and possessing a straight moneymaking shot, Gwaltney is a prospect who is certainly circling the wagons in a dead man’s hand game of target practice with all the quick-drawing odds in his favor!
