In his Amateur MMA debut at FAC 15, he faced Justin Thacker and defeated him via TKO in the third round. McAtee knocked out Jalen Green in round one at Synergy FC 2 to notch his second knockout win as an Amateur. Then at Synergy FC 8, he submitted Cale Horton in round three via rear-naked choke. McAtee defeated Trent Rein at Synergy FC 10 via unanimous decision. He tapped out Mitchell Gilmore at FAC 26 Fight 4 the Cure via armbar in the second round. McAtee submitted Christopher Adam Elliot in round three via rear-naked choke to score his third submission win as an Amateur.
At Synergy FC 17, he defeated Marcus Nelson via a split decision. The win earned McAtee the second decision victory of his Amateur career.
