Jan Błachowicz made it clear after his fight in London that he has no intention of stepping away. The former UFC light heavyweight champion has already laid out his plans for the coming months and even pointed to his next potential opponent.
The popular “Prince of Cieszyn” returned to the Octagon after more than a year and a half away, facing Carlos Ulberg. The striking battle between the Pole and the New Zealander went the full distance, and after a closely contested fight, it was hard to determine a clear winner.
At least for the fans. The judges, however, unanimously scored the bout in favour of “Black Jag.” Błachowicz didn’t hide his disappointment with the decision, expressing his frustration in a social media post:
“Another controversy on the record. It turns out the approach to significant strikes differs from their actual impact. I’ll leave the verdict up for debate. But the crowd’s reaction in the arena after the announcement and the discussions happening online right now speak for themselves.”
Jan Błachowicz announces a quick return
In the same post, Błachowicz made it clear that he isn’t giving up. Speaking on Bodog Canada, he revealed plans to fight twice before the year is out.
The Polish fighter emphasized that he won’t dwell on the judges’ decision from the UFC London co-main event.
“It is what it is. What can I do? I’m not thinking about it. I just can’t leave fights in the hands of the judges anymore. I have to finish my opponents—that’s my main focus now.”
Błachowicz dropped slightly in the rankings, now sitting at No. 5. However, he remains a top contender in the division, leaving him with several potential matchups. When asked about his next opponent, he pointed to one of Ulberg’s previous rivals:
“I dropped a bit in the rankings, so I don’t know who they’ll give me next… Maybe Volkan Oezdemir? He fought Carlos too, and he also lost. So maybe he’d be a good option for my next fight,” Błachowicz suggested.
The Swiss fighter is currently ranked No. 9, and before his loss to Ulberg, he secured submission and knockout wins over Bogdan Guskov and Johnny Walker, respectively. After knocking out the Brazilian, “No Time” even called out Błachowicz for a fight to determine the “King of Europe.”
