The UFC has officially released Kiefer Crosbie, a noted teammate of Conor McGregor, following a string of disappointing performances. Crosbie, who suffered three consecutive first-round stoppage losses, confirmed his departure while expressing gratitude for his journey in the organisation. Alongside him, fan favourite Chris Barnett and veteran Kurt Holobaugh were also released, marking a significant shake-up of the UFC roster.

Kiefer Crosbie Exits the UFC

Kiefer Crosbie, known for his competitive spirit and dedication to mixed martial arts, made his UFC debut in July 2023 after a notable boxing victory. Despite his early promise, he struggled to find consistency in the Octagon, culminating in three straight first-round stoppage losses. Crosbie confirmed his release on social media, reflecting on his UFC tenure with pride and acknowledging the challenges he faced against elite competition.

His departure also comes after an incident at UFC Shanghai involving an illegal knee, which Crosbie cited in part as a turning point in his career. Despite the setbacks, he remains optimistic about future opportunities and is ready to explore new paths in his professional fighting career.

Other Notable Releases

Alongside Crosbie, the UFC also released Chris Barnett and Kurt Holobaugh. Barnett, beloved by fans for his devastating head-kick knockout of Gian Villante at Madison Square Garden, leaves a legacy of excitement and memorable performances. Holobaugh, a veteran who returned to the UFC in 2019, struggled in his recent run, winning only one of four fights before his release.

Neither Barnett nor Holobaugh has publicly commented on their departures, but all three fighters’ exits highlight the competitive and often unforgiving nature of the UFC roster, where consistent success is critical to maintaining a place among the sport’s elite.

Looking Ahead

Kiefer Crosbie’s release, along with Barnett and Holobaugh, serves as a reminder of the volatile nature of a career in mixed martial arts. While their time in the UFC has concluded, each fighter has the opportunity to continue their careers in other promotions or pursue new ventures within the sport. For Crosbie, in particular, the future remains open, with the former UFC fighter expressing readiness for new challenges and a continued pursuit of success inside and outside the Octagon.
