Entering enemy territory for their opening professional assignment is no easy ask for a debuting MMA fighter, no matter how much experience they have. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to the newest kingmaker on the chessboard, ready to call checkmate in his opening bout with Cage Warriors and spoiling the Irish party on February 21 at Cage Warriors 200 from Dublin’s RDS in the process. An Amateur mixed martial artist since December 2017 and representing Urban Kingz MMA under head coach and Cage Warriors veteran Mick Stanton, Elliott McGibbon holds a 7-3 record over the space of 10 outings consisting of three submissions, two knockouts and two decisions. McGibbon has fought for various organizations throughout his journey as an Amateur MMA fighter including Kingdom Combat Championship and Full Contact Contender. He has spent his whole career in the United Kingdom and has finished five out of his seven total wins inside the Amateur ranks.

In his Amateur MMA debut at Shinobi MMA 11 Winter Warfare, he faced Mariusz Mikolajewski and went on to defeat him via decision. McGibbon submitted Emils Sinuks in round one at Machine MMA 24. He defeated Martin Patterson via TKO in the first round at Almighty Fighting Championship 19. Then at FCC 27, McGibbon defeated Ryan McNally via unanimous decision to score his second decision win as an Amateur. He defeated Calvin Mooney via technical knockout in the second round at FCC 34 to notch his second knockout victory as an Amateur. McGibbon tapped out Ryan Henassey in round three via rear-naked choke at Kingdom Friday Fight Night 2. He submitted Shane Howard via armbar in the first round at Kingdom Combat Championship 8 to earn the third submission win of his Amateur career. McGibbon also picked up his seventh victory overall as an Amateur mixed martial artist.

For his professional MMA debut at Cage Warriors 200 on February 21, he will lock horns with Trevor Makengo at a catchweight of 216 pounds. Good luck Elliott!
