Yair Rodriguez has pulled out of his upcoming fight against Jean Silva, which was scheduled for 12th of September in the main event of UFC Noche. Jean Silva will now Jose Delgado in the Featherweight main event in Arizona. Rodriguez pulled out of the fight for an undisclosed reason, with many fans criticising the Mexican.

The fight was due to be Rodriguez’s first since April 2025, where he defeated Patricio Pitbull at UFC 314. Rodriguez does have a history of cancelled bouts, and the excitement fans had over one of the most intriguing striking bouts that was likely to happen this year has made some react negatively to the fight cancellation.

For Jean Silva, he will be looking to rebuild the hype behind his name. For a while, it seemed inevitable that he would be the next dominant champion in the Featherweight division but a brutal KO loss to Diego Lopes back in September 2025 slightly derailed him. Since then, he has only fought once. The fight took place in January, and saw him secure a decision win against Arnold Allen.

Silva is skilled in all facets of MMA, but his striking is what has made him such a force in the division. His wide array of weapons and unpredictability make him a challenge for anyone. His win over Bryce Mitchell back in April 2025 highlighted his diverse game as he secured a submission win over a talented grappler. His divisive personality has made people tune into watch his fights, and a win here could potentially set him up for a title shot.

For Jose Delgado, this fight presents a huge opportunity to cement his name amongst the top fighters in the Featherweight division. Delgado will have home advantage as he fights out of Arizona. Delgado is a high paced striker who has shown power and striking fluidity in his career. His last two fights against Andre Fili and Austin Bashi showed that he belongs in the UFC, but fighting Silva will easily be the toughest fight of his career.

The pressure will now be on Silva, as he fights someone he is expected to defeat. For Delgado, this fight presents a huge opportunity to potentially put himself one fight away from fighting for the belt. The winner of this fight will be set in a great direction for the near future of their career
