The ties of brotherhood are forever strengthened and put to the ultimate mental test when two fighters from the same nation set aside friendship to confront the assignment at hand, just like any other professional athlete. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet the newest shamrock sporter ready to reach a fresh stage of professional growth in the yellow gloves for Cage Warriors as he seeks to add another chapter in Irish MMA glory to the tome of historic moments for the promotion in the Emerald Isle. A professional mixed martial artist since November 2024 and representing Team Ryano, Lewis Byrne holds a 3-0 record consisting of one submission, one knockout and one decision. Both of his finishes over the course of his career as a professional MMA fighter have come in a single round inside of five minutes or fewer. His sole decision victory has resulted in a unanimous verdict. Byrne has spent the majority of his journey inside the professional ranks in the United Kingdom. He has fought for Clan Wars, IUR Fighting Championships and MMA Galla.
In his professional MMA debut at Clan Wars 50, he submitted Juris Ruckanovs via neck crank in the first round to pick up his only submission win as a professional. Byrne defeated Alex McCooke via technical knockout in round one at IUR Fighting Championships 14 to secure his lone knockout win as a professional along with his second finish. He defeated Hussein Abbas Zade at MMA Galla Volume 26 via unanimous decision. The victory notched Byrne the first decision win of his professional career. He also scored his third win overall as a professional mixed martial artist in the process.
For his debut outing under the Cage Warriors banner on February 21 at Cage Warriors 200 at the RDS in Dublin, Byrne will face off against fellow Irishman Dylan Logan at a catchweight of 150 pounds. Good luck Lewis!
