Brave CF is coming to London this week with a special invitation-only event. One guest who was hoping to make some matchmaking at the event is Artem Lobov.
Lobov and his coach John Kavanagh had made it known that Lobov would welcome a boxing match up with former super lightweight world champion Amir Khan. Lobov recently defeated a former boxing world champion and a former Khan opponent, Paulie Malignaggi in bare-knuckle promotion BKFC.
It seems Brave would be keen on putting the fight together.
Brave CF President Mohammed Shahid recently said via a Brave press release, “I love how you have these two great fighters in their peak are still looking for a challenge. I will definitely look into it, and I want to make it happen for our fans, for BRAVE Nation. I’m looking forward to an amazing night for mixed martial arts on July 25th and will sit down with Artem to talk about it. Unfortunately, Amir Khan will not be able to attend. We just talked and he has urgent matters to attend to on that date, but we’ll be back on that front soon”.
One man not interested is Amir Khan.
“Yeah, he (Lobov) mentioned he wants to fight me,” Khan told me. “To be honest with you, it would be a walk in the park that fight.
“Definitely, I think that be an easy fight. I think that fight would be a waste of time really.”
Khan was at the Brave CF show in Belfast last year and was invited to go to the London event but can’t make it.
Not many people will know but Khan is a big MMA fan, he even owns his own promotion, Super Fight League, an Indian based promotion.
“MMA is a hard sport, a very brutal sport,” Khan said. “I own a company called Super Fight League as well, it’s a different sport. I love it. Obviously, when people love it you have to back it and get behind it.”
As much as he enjoys MMA, boxing will always be number one.
“Boxing has always been my favourite. I’m always going to pick boxing over any other sport.”
