Fighters don’t often know how mentally strong they truly are until they take the show on the road in the opponent’s home nation and end up being the party crasher. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a crushing knockout artist looking to lay some heavy leather in the land down under at UFC 243 on October 5. A professional since November 2017 and representing Regiment Training Center, Yorgan De Castro holds an undefeated 5-0 record comprised of four knockouts and one decision. De Castro earned a contract with the UFC on week one of season three of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in 2019. He has also competed with New England Fights and CES MMA and has gone on to earn a finish in 80 per cent of his victories thus far in his professional career.
In his MMA debut at CES MMA 47, he faced James Dysard and went on to defeat him via TKO in the first round. De Castro also defeated David White via TKO in round three at CES MMA 50. Then in his lone outing with New England Fights at NEF 36 Battle for the Gold, he faced Ras Hylton and went on to defeat him via TKO in the first round. De Castro defeated Carson Little Sr via unanimous decision in his third and final appearance with CES MMA at CES MMA 54 to earn his first decision win as a professional.
At Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series one, he faced Alton Meeks and defeated him via TKO in the first round to earn a contract with the UFC. The win also earned De Castro the fourth knockout victory of his professional career. For his debut outing with the UFC at UFC 243 on October 5, De Castro will face the unbeaten Justin Tafa in a heavyweight battle of the big men. Good luck Yorgan!
