Nick Diaz, a former UFC fighter, shared video of himself training with heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury ahead of a possible return to mixed martial arts.
Diaz hasn’t fought since January 2015, when he faced Anderson Silva in the main event of UFC 183, where the former middleweight champion won by decision before the fight was ruled a no-contest after both fighters failed drug tests.
Diaz received a five-year suspension for drug use, which was later shortened to 18 months, but he has yet to compete again.
Although Diaz’s manager expected his client to comeback in 2021, with Diaz appearing at UFC 261 in April, UFC president Dana White recently informed ESPN that he does not really think the 37-year-old has the urge to return to competition.
Fury sent a message to White on Diaz’s behalf after the training session.
โHeโs in tremendous shape,โ Fury said of Diaz on his Instagram stories. โHeโs ready. Make the fight, Dana. Make the fight.โ
Fury is reportedly set to fight Anthony Joshua for the undisputed heavyweight championship on Aug. 14, but no official date has been set.
