After Leon Edwards defeated Nate Diaz in the UFC, Jake Paul wasted no time in pledging to knock him out.
Until the last minute, when a left hand rocked Edwards and forced him to cling on for the rest of the fight, Diaz was controlled by the Brit.
After all three judges declared Edwards the winner, Paul fired back, writing, “I will knock out Nate Diaz after I knock out Woodley.”
On August 28, Paul will fight former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in his fourth professional bout.
The YouTube star has so far accumulated stoppage victories over fellow social media star AnEsonGib, former NBA star Nate Robinson and former MMA stand-out Ben Askren.
Despite losing the final four fights of his UFC career, he will face the hardest test of his career against Woodley.
“I got a cut in training a month ago, I had a really good flow going in training and it slowed my whole momentum down
“Congratulations to Leon, I wish I’d taken his ass the f*** out.”
Paul will likely have to wait until Diaz is out of contract with the UFC if he is to have any hope of luring him into the boxing ring.
But he has long spoken of his plan to fight one half of the Diaz brothers – before taking on Conor McGregor.
“I think people will immediately write me off but they’re going to tune into watch,” Paul told ESPN after beating Askren.
“It’s a major pay-per-view with two enormous names. People’s jaws will drop when they watch me demolish him; they won’t know how to react, and they’ll assume it’s rigged once more.
“I’ll be unstoppable to fight Conor McGregor at that point because I beat the guy who beat him.
“The Jake Paul vs Conor fight is a massive fight so I’m like why wait? I don’t need to be in this sport forever, I don’t need 100 fights so why wait, let’s do it right away.”
After watching his brother Logan take Floyd Mayweather to eight rounds last weekend, Paul has begun his preparation camp for his fight with Woodley.
And the 24-year-old believes the seasoned UFC champion will follow in the footsteps of his prior opponents.
When the rivals faced off earlier this month, he declared, “You’re going down in one round just like your closest friend [Askren].”
