BRAVE Combat Federation will land in Spain for BRAVE CF 89 on October 19 and while the event is a milestone for the nation, for Spanish MMA veteran Jose Sanchez, BRAVE CF 89 offers the biggest opportunity of his MMA career.
Sanchez began his MMA journey in 2014 on the domestic circuit and quickly became Spain’s top fighter. He remained undefeated for five years, achieving 11 consecutive victories and winning a regional title in 2019. However, after this success, Sanchez had to take a break due to several fight cancellations.
He returned in 2021 but has experienced mixed results since then, with two wins, three losses, and one draw in his last six fights. Many of these opportunities came on short notice or while he was injured, hindering his performance.
Now, ahead of BRAVE CF 89, the stars have aligned perfectly for Sanchez. He will fight in the co-main event, becoming the highest-placed Spanish fighter on the biggest MMA card in Spain’s history.
Sanchez faces Irish star Richie Smullen from SBG Ireland and aims for the biggest win of his career and hopes to follow in the footsteps of Ilia Topuria, who gained international fame through BRAVE CF. Interestingly, Sanchez and Topuria were both part of an unreleased MMA reality show, which could have pushed Sanchez as a superstar.
Alongside Sanchez, Spain’s Oscar Mendez and Andrea Meneses Garcia will also compete in BRAVE CF 89, which is bound to be a landmark event for Spanish MMA.
BRAVE CF 89 will take place on October 19 at Pabellon Santiago Martin in Tenerife, in partnership with Fight2One, concluding BRAVE CF’s “Around the World in 70 Days” tour which has seen events in China, Pakistan, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, and Slovenia.
