Globetrotter Jeremy Pacatiw finding peace at home while waiting for BRAVE CF comeback

BRAVE Combat Federation has a very special relationship with the Philippines, as two of its most decorated fighters have important records within the company. Stephen Loman is, of course, the longest-reigning world champion in the promotion, having been at the top of the Bantamweight division as its only titleholder since November of 2017. The other record-holder is his teammate Jeremy Pacatiw. “The Juggernaut” actually holds two records – most BRAVE CF fights and most action time. He has competed in 10 bouts for the organization and has been in action for close to two hours (118 minutes and nine seconds to be precise). Pacatiw has fought for BRAVE CF since its second show in December of 2016 and is truly a witness to the rise of the promotion, currently the fastest-growing MMA organization in the world. During his time with BRAVE CF, Jeremy fought all over the world and has enjoyed the experience of knowing different cultures and fighting in front of different crowds. The Team Lakay product has flown the flag of the Philippines in his own home country at BRAVE CF 22 but has also seen action in Bahrain, India, Brazil, Indonesia, Morocco, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. Pacatiw’s rise has truly been a mirror of the worldwide growth BRAVE Combat Federation has enjoyed in the last few years. With the Coronavirus pandemic, however, he has been forced to stay home and has been making the most of it, by doing daily workouts with his dog and gathering fans on social media to watch him work out and have fun. Pacatiw has found peace in a difficult time and has been one of the ambassadors of the #BRAVECombatsCovid19 campaign held by KHK Heroes, which was founded by His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the visionary behind BRAVE Combat Federation. Though he admits a desire to get back to action, Jeremy understands right now is a time for unity and to pull through. “The Juggernaut” is doing his part and hopes to get back to action as soon as possible – preferably competing in new territory and adding another stamp to his passport.

The 25-year-old fighter from Canada is among the top upcoming talents in the world and held an 11 fight win streak before taking his first loss. Sources close to Kennedy revealed that he will be looking forward to fighting in the month of August. Kennedy had been the cornerman of the Bantamweight competitor, Gurdarshan Mangat. Kennedy is speculated to compete in the featherweight division of Brave Combat Federation. The division is currently dominated by Elias Boudegzdame. Recently the division witnessed signing more athletes. The promotion has hinted that flyweight, featherweight and middleweight divisions will witness athlete signings in the coming days. Kennedy will become the second fighter signed by the promotion with Canada. “I chose Brave CF because when I went out a couple times to corner Gary Mangat, I really liked their team and how they ran things. Brave CF is one of the bigger organisations based out of Asia, so I wanted to test myself against some of the best international fighters in the world.”, said Jeremy Kennedy.

Jeremy Stephens vs. Doo Ho Choi: What Will Go Down

Two power heavy featherweights clash in the main event of UFC Fight Night St. Louis, as Jeremy ‘Lil’ Heathen’ Stephens faces promising contender and fellow heavy hitter, Doo Ho Choi in a five-round match. Stephens recovered in spectacular fashion from two consecutive defeats to outstrike former Strikeforce champ, Gilbert Melendez, displaying an incredible calf kick technique to disrupt the movement and output from ‘El Nino’. South Korea favourite Choi last competed in December 2016 in a decision defeat to Cub Swanson, with the UFC 206 meeting earning the UFC Fight of The Year accolade. With 40 professional mixed-martial arts contests, Stephens is undoubtedly one of the most experienced contenders at 145lbs today, and certainly one of the most dangerous. With 26 victories and 14 losses, the 31-year-old has faced some of the most elite lightweights and featherweights in UFC history. With wins over the aforementioned Melendez, former Team Alpha Male coach Justin Bucholz, Brazil’s Rony Jason, former UFC bantamweight interim kingpin Renan Barao. He beat the tough Darren Elkins and career standout knockouts over Dennis Bermudez and Rafael Dos Anjos, via a flying knee and a huge looping uppercut respectively. Noticeably, Stephens has been quite difficult to finish throughout his 13-year career, with only Joe Lauzon, Yves Edwards and Din Thomas stopping the Iowa native, something that may frustrate the one dimensional Choi. At just 26 years of age, Gumi fan favourite Doo Ho Choi exploded onto the Ultimate Fighting Championship scene back in 2014, going 3-0 with three consecutive first round KO’s, stopping Juan Puig, Sam Sicilia and Thiago Taraves before running into the well rounded Cub Swanson. Choi was briefly linked to bouts with Renan Barao and then Andre ‘Touchy’ Fili, originally declining the bout with ‘The Baron’, and subsequently citing an injury, and was removed from the card. Choi’s ability to take and absorb a shot was on full display during his three round back and forth with ‘Killer’ Cub, with his main offence stemming from his heavy hands. WIth good movement and cutting of angles to create openings, this matchup may come down to which striker can land first and cleanest. Expect Stephens to utilize those damaging leg kicks once more, and his explosive yet technical striking should set up a stoppage victory. PREDICTION: Jeremy Stephens via knockout.

Jeremy Stephens – Not far from the top

Jeremy “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens is #9 in the UFC featherweight division. Stephens is known for having ferocious knockout power and a very high fight IQ. The veteran has had 40 professional fights and has fought MMA greats like Rafael Dos Anjos, Anthony Pettis, Joe Lauzon, Renan Barao and Frankie Edgar. He will step into the UFC‘s octagon again for the 27th time on January 14th when in the main event, he fights Doo Ho Choi at UFC Fight Night 124. Stephens has proved to be the best K.O artists in the featherweight division. With leg kicks that would make Jose Aldo shudder, and punches that leave his opponent seeing stars, Stephens will be hoping to make it back to back victories after the best performance of his career when he dominated Gilbert Melendez at UFC 215. A victory over Doo Ho Choi will put his name back in title contention and he will be hoping to get a rematch to avenge one of his losses to either Edgar or reigning champion, Max Holloway. Choi will not be an easy opposition though. The South Korean went on a three fight winning streak since joining the UFC but, a very close decision loss to Cub Swanson, which was voted fight of the year in 2016, ended his run. This fight a must watch as Stephens and Choi both have a lot to lose with sights of a possible number one contender fight in mind for both fighters.
