José Aldo Says a Text From Dana White Helped Save Son’s Life

One of the greatest fighters José Aldo and his wife recently welcomed a child, and it might not have happened without Dana White. Jose retired from MMA after a long career in the octagon. The ‘King of Rio’ is considered one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time after a once-dominant reign as UFC featherweight champion. Aldo is still a big presence in the sport and has hinted at a move to boxing for his next combat sports challenge. He is also spending more time with his family after choosing to hang up the MMA gloves for good. A recent addition to Aldo’s family could have ended tragically had it not been for a conversation between White and Aldo when he requested his release to the UFC. During an appearance on MMA Fighting’s Portuguese-language podcast Trocação Franca, Jose Aldo revealed that his text exchange with Dana White that day may have saved the life of Jose Aldo III. “A friend of mine was looking into some boxing things for me and said I needed to prepare a statement saying he could consult the UFC,” Aldo said. “I did that and texted Dana on Thursday, and Dana wrote me back thanking me for everything, saying the UFC was always open for me, the [Performance Institute], and everything I needed. He has great affection for me and my family, he was always very close to us. “After that emotional message – it wasn’t a boss talking to his employee, it was two people that like each other – I showed it to [my wife] Vivianne. She was still pregnant at the time and got emotional, her blood pressure went up and we had to go to the hospital. She [went back for some tests and] was admitted to the hospital on Friday. She had preeclampsia and [the blood pressure] went up after Dana’s message.” “It looked like everything would go wrong. He was born with a true knot [in his umbilical cord], and if we had waited two more weeks, I wouldn’t be at home with little Aldo here.”

Why Petr Yan vs Jose Aldo is the fight to make for the vacant UFC Bantamweight title

Since Henry Cejudo announcing his retirement at UFC 249 after defeating Dominick Cruz by TKO in the second round. There has been plenty of speculation on who will be fighting for the now vacant UFC bantamweight title in the next few coming months.   It seems as if we have an insight on the latest news from Dana White announcing that top contender Petr Yan and former UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo is in the works after appearing on ESPN’s Sports Center to discuss the future of the Bantamweight division. Dana White would state on the show that. “Cejudo has retired. We’re talking right now about Petr Yan vs. Jose Aldo for the vacant title. We don’t have a date or a place set yet.” Yan, 27. Holds a professional MMA record of 14-1 (6-0, UFC) he is currently 3rd in the UFC Bantamweight rankings. Known also by his incredible nick-name “No Mercy” Yan is the former ACB Bantamweight champion and rightful contender to next fight for the belt in the UFC. His last 3 wins with the UFC have been outstanding picking up 2 dominant decision wins over John Dodson at UFC Fight Night: Blahowicz vs Santos and Jimmie Rivera at UFC 238 before going on to knocking out Urijah Faber at UFC 245,which cemented his rightful acknowledgement and positioning within the 135lbs division. Yan hasn’t tasted defeat since March 2016. Jose Aldo a future inductee to the UFC hall of fame hasn’t had the best of runs in recent years he holds a professional MMA record of 28-6 (10-5, UFC) he happens to be 2-4 in his last 6 bouts with the promotion after falling short to Marlon Moraes by a controversial decision at UFC 245. It’s not difficult to understand why the UFC would want to make this bout while including Aldo in the bracket. As one of the most dominant champions we’ve ever seen step into the UFC octagon was scheduled to face Henry Cejudo for the UFC Bantamweight title at UFC 250 in Brazil. The bout didn’t end up happening due to the corona-virus outbreak and the opportunity went to former champion Dominick Cruz. Jose is the former UFC Featherweight champion where he dominated for almost a decade. Successfully making 2 title defences with WEC and later being promoted to the UFC Featherweight champion, where he would make 7 consecutive title defences with the organisation. The fight would bring in countless numbers and is a match-up the fan’s would like to see as Aldo has the opportunity to become a two division champion. Jose is currently ranked at the 6th best Bantamweight on the UFC roster and 13th on the Featherweight rankings.

Jose “Shorty” Torres on postponing Brave debut: ‘It will be worth the wait’

After a longer than expected wait, Jose “Shorty” Torres is finally on deck to make his much-awaited Brave Combat Federation debut. He meets Amir Albazi in the main card of Brave 23: Pride and Honor, which takes place in Amman, Jordan, on April 19th. Initially scheduled to face the undefeated Albazi at Brave 22, the American wrestler was forced off the Philippines card due to injury but guarantees the build-up will be worth it. Torres hasn’t fought since August of last year and is itching to be back in action. He anticipates a tough fight against Albazi but promises to deliver an exciting first fight for Brave Nation and for the hardcore Jordanian fans.”I’m 100% healthy this time, and I’m just getting down in my weight. I’m ready, I think it’s going to be an amazing debut. We’re not even in our primes yet, Amir is 25 and I’m 26. He’s undefeated and I was too, up until my last fight. It is going to be an amazing fight. Win, lose or draw for either one, it’s going to be a spectacle. I’m really excited to go to Jordan, as their fans are very knowledgeable. You’re gonna see a 100% Jose Torres and I’m excited to see a 100% Amir Albazi. It’s definitely going to be worth the wait”, guarantees Torres.”Shorty” admits being frustrated after having to pull out of his debut, as he was excited to fight in the Philippines, but admits that fighting in the “biggest card in the promotion’s history” is an honour. “I actually ended up very, very sick with the flu, there was a virus going around Chicago. And then, I got caught with a kick and a nasty cut opened up, which Amir would have no trouble opening up again if we fought at Brave 22. It was extremely frustrating to pull out because it wasn’t my choice. I wanted to prove a point and keep going, but my team respectfully asked me to postpone the fight. It’s a great change. My last fight was the co-main event, and I was so excited because I’ve never been to the Philippines and it was going to be an awesome debut. I was excited to be so high up the card too, but now I’m fighting in the biggest-ever Brave card, with three title fights, got pushed up to the main card, and being one of the most important fights is an honour”, explains the American. Brave 23 will be headlined by three title fights, with Welterweight champion Jarrah Al-Selawe headlining the card against top contender Abdoul Abdouraguimov. Lightweight titleholder Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady takes on Brazilian striker Luan “Miau” Santiago, while Eldar Eldarov and Mounir Lazzez compete for the first-ever Super Lightweight world title. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv6wVW4Clua/
