The 3 stars of UFC Minneapolis featuring Maurice Greene, Drew Dober and Roosevelt Roberts

The UFC will return to the twin cities for the first time since 2012 in the third event of the ESPN era at the Target Center on June 29. Here are three fighters looking to make the promotion’s twin city return one for the record books. Maurice Greene  At 7-2 overall and standing at 2-0 in the UFC, the heavy-handed Maurice Greene rides into UFC on ESPN 3 having finished five of his seven career bouts. With four submissions and one knockout, Greene’s key to a victory will lie in what he is able to do on top once his foe expends his gastank. I expect that this contest will in a finish either late in the first round or early in the second. Greene’s last victory in the UFC was a split decison win over Jeff Hughes at UFC On ESPN Plus 4 in March 2019. In Brazil’s Junior Albini, he is facing a foe with finishes in 12 of his 14 wins as a professional. Albini’s last UFC win was a first round TKO victory over Timothy Johnson at UFC On Fox 25 in July 2017, Roosevelt Roberts With back to back wins to begin his UFC tenure and a perfect 8-0 record, rising prospect Roosevelt Roberts has impressed in his first two outings inside the UFC thus far including earning a Performance of the Night bonus in his UFC debut with a first round one submission of Darrell Horcher. Dangerous on the ground or standing up to the tune of seven finishes in eight wins, Robert’s key to victory lies in him being able to spot his opponent’s weak point then going in for the kill. His last UFC win was a split decision victory over Thomas Gifford at UFC On ESPN Plus 8 in April 2019. In Vince Pichel, Roberts will be facing a ruthless knockout artist with eight knockouts to his credit. Pichel’s last victory in the UFC was a unanimous decision win over Joaquim Silva in January 2018 at UFC On Fox 27. Drew Dober  Having finished 13 of his 20 wins, the durable Drew Dober has had his fair share of scraps in the UFC. With seven knockouts and six submissions to his credit, Dober’s key to victory will lie in how well he channels his aggressiveness in the early stages of the contest. His last UFC win was a unanimous decision victory over John Tuck at UFN 135 in August 2018. In Mexico’s Marco Polo Reyes, Dober is facing an aggressive knockout artist with six knockouts in his eight career victories. Reyes last victory in the UFC was a first-round knockout of Matt Frevola in January 2018 at UFN 124.

A Blinding Flash featuring UFC fighter Jared Gordon

Sometimes, a fighter gains greater success by switching up their scenery. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a dangerous eastern transplant looking to shine his light at UFC On ESPN 3 on June 29 in the UFC’S return to the twin cities for the first time since 2012. A professional since February 2011 and representing Roufusport, Jared Gordon owns a 14-3 record in 17 career bouts as a professional comprised of six knockouts, six decisions and two submissions. Prior to making his debut appearance with the UFC in 2017, Gordon competed with Cage Fury Fighting Championships. He was also featured on the second season of Dana White’s Looking for a Fight. In his MMA debut, he submitted Anthony D’agostino via rear naked choke in the second round. Gordon defeated his next five opponents that included victories over Robert Fabrizi and Alejandro Roman. Then at Cage Fury Fighting Championships 28, he defeated Johnson Jajoute via unanimous decision. Gordon also defeated Corey Bleaken via unanimous decision at CFFC 44. At CFFC 45 he defeated Jay Coleman via TKO in the first round. Gordon knocked out Anthony Morrison in round one in the headliner of CFFC 59. In his next appearance with Cage Fury Fighting Championships at CFFC 60, he tapped out Dawond Pickney via rear naked choke in round two. For his final outing with Cage Fury Fighting Championships Gordon faced Bill Algeo in the co-main event of CFFC 63 and defeated via unanimous decision. In his debut outing with the UFC at UFN 112, he defeated Michel Quinones via TKO in the second round. For his second outing with the UFC at UFN 119 Gordon faced Hacran Dias in his home nation of Brazil and defeated him via unanimous decision to secure back to back victories with the UFC. The win also earned Gordon the sixth decision victory of his professional career. At UFC On ESPN 3 on June 29, he will face Dan Moret in a lightweight bout. Good luck Jared!

Liverpool’s Chris Fishgold To Face Daniel Teymur at UFC Prague

UFC on ESPN+ 3 will take place on February 22nd at the 02 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic.   Former Cage Warriors lightweight champion Chris Fishgold (17-2-1) will face Daniel ‘Kid Dynamite’ Teymur (6-2-0) in a featherweight bout. Fishgold trains out of Next Generation MMA in Liverpool with the likes of Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett and Molly ‘Meatball’ McCann, both of whom have held championships in Cage Warriors. He has victories over Alexander Jacobsen (9-4-0), Nic Herron-Webb (20-8-0) and Jason Ponet (18-12-1) among others. Chris has been pro since 2010 and in that time has racked up 12 victories by submission as well as 2 KO’s and 3 decisions. He was on a 7 fight winning streak before making his UFC debut at featherweight against Calvin Kattar (19-3-0) at Fight Night 138: Volkan vs Smith in October 2018. Unfortunately, he lost the fight by TKO. But don’t count Fishgold out because he lost his first fight in the UFC – Daniel Teymur has gotten off to a rockier start, having had 2 fights for the organisation and losing both. Daniel is a former multiple time Swedish and Nordic Muay Thai champion and the elder brother of Ultimate Fighter contestant David Teymur (the one who told Cody Garbrandt to ‘take care of his underwears’). He lost his UFC debut against Edinburgh-born Danny Henry (12-2-0) by Unanimous Decision at UFC Glasgow in July 2017 then also lost his follow up bout against Julio Arce (15-3-0) by Rear Naked Choke at UFC Utica in January 2018. Despite his Muay Thai credentials, he has a balanced record. He had 6 fights as a pro before signing for the UFC and won them all the first round, three of them by submission. Will this be enough to match the experience and success Fishgold has had on the ground? Other fights confirmed for UFC Prague: John Dodson (20-10-0) vs Petr Yan (11-1-0) Jan Blachowicz (23-7-0) vs Thiago Santos (20-6-0) Magomed Ankalaev (10-1-0) vs Darko Stosic (13-1-) Liz Carmouche (12-6-0) vs Lucie Pudilova (8-3-0) Stefan Struve (28-11-0) vs Marcos Rogerio de Lima (16-5-1)
