Khamzat Chimaev aims for unprecedented three-division BRAVE title reigns

Sweden’s Khamzat Chimaev has yet to taste defeat in his professional career and is riding high after an incredible first-round knockout against previously undefeated Ikram Aliskerov, in last month’s groundbreaking BRAVE 23: Pride and Honor. And Chimaev isn’t shy about showing his ambitious plans, that include domination in three different weight classes, something never achieved in the highest level of mixed martial arts.

Through his Instagram account, Chimaev sent a simple message to two newly-crowned world champions for BRAVE, claiming he wants to become the new Welterweight and Super Lightweight titleholder. The titles from these divisions were recently won by Abdoul Abdouraguimov and Eldar Eldarov, respectively, in the same event that “Borz” knocked out Aliskerov.

“I’m looking to take my belts in 75, 79 and 84. Now we are writing the history of a three-time world champion”, said Chimaev, referring to the weight in kilos of Super Lightweight, Welterweight and Middleweight.

While BRAVE has yet to crown a Middleweight world champion, Khamzat has some experience in the division, as his second promotional victory came at 185 lbs. Used to train with Light Heavyweights at the All Stars Gym, in Stockholm, he didn’t have a bout scheduled after his debut win at Welterweight but jumped at the chance of competing at Middleweight in the main event of BRAVE 20, when Leon Aliu was injured.

With only nine days notice, Chimaev put on one of the most impressive performances of his career, as he overwhelmed Sidney Wheeler and ended their contest in just 35 seconds when the American wrestler tapped out due to strikes.
