“Does Conor have a chance?” has been the line of choice for any journalist speaking to a boxing practitioner in recent weeks. A resounding “absolutely not” has been the general consensus, and yet, when the question was posed to Holly Holm, a multi-weight Boxing Champion in her years before switching to MMA, she was much more cautious in writing off the Notorious one.
Coming off of a stunning question mark kick finish of Bethe Correia at the recent UFC event in Singapore, Holm got speaking to journalist Ariel Helwani on his show The MMA Hour on Monday. It wasn’t long before she was drawn into the fashionable Money fight debate… “Anything can happen in a fight, it’s one of those unpredictable things. I admire Floyd Mayweather for a lot of things, you know he is the only fighter out there who is still undefeated, but I also admire a lot of things that Mcgregor has done in his career and usually when he puts his mind to something he accomplishes it so, you can’t ever count that person out, that’s all i’m saying, i’m saying anything can happen.”
During the interview she alluded to the her transition being harder in theory than the one Mcgregor will be making, she mentioned that McGregors‘ fighting stance and style will make the bout competitive for Mayweather. Holm believes that the longer the fight goes, the easier it will be for Mayweather, but that doesn’t discount the opportunity for Mcgregor to “do something big” in the fight.
