Colby Covington: A New Breed

The UFC is badly in need of a fresh wave of talent, a new breed to pull the company out of it’s current lull.

In the space of a week it may well just have found two potential stars, both in the Welterweight division.

Darren Till announced himself last week when he destroyed Cowboy Cerrone in Poland, this week in Brazil, Colby Covington did the same.

Covington now with a record of 13-1, the 7th ranked Welterweight decisioned the 3rd ranked Demian Maia and then cut a WWE style heel promo which got him booed out of the building, but puts him right in the mix for a shot at the Welterweight Title against Tyron Woodley.

Covington might feel the wrath of the UFC brass for his comments, but they certainly have got him noticed.

If you match any combination of Covington, Till or Mike Perry you can only imagine the fireworks they will generate between them.

The Lightweight division is stacked with talent, but the Welterweight ranks now look equally as loaded.
