Rizin FF 8 takes place Friday at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan – near Tokyo.
Featuring on the event is a bout between behemoth of women’s MMA Gabi Garcia (4-0) and 53-year-old, retired pro wrestler Shinobu Kandori (4-1, last fought MMA 17 years ago).
This was scheduled to be an open weight bout with a weight limit of 209 pounds. Kandori weighed in at a modest 162.25 lbs, Garcia tipped the scales at an astonishing 237lbs; a full 28lbs over the limit. According to reports, Kandori screamed at Garcia then stormed off.
Now even though Rizin FF head, Nobuyuki Sakakibara, came on stage and said “Competition-wise, we cannot make this happen.”
This circus bout hasn’t officially been called off, if it does go ahead, however, Garcia will have nearly a 75lbs weight advantage.
