Marc Diakiese calls out “Mr Sage Northcutt” for a “super exciting” fight

The Bonecrusher Marc Diakiese (12-2) didn’t live up to his usual aggressive namesake with what can only be deemed the most polite callout in UFC history. Sage Northcutt (10-2) was the recipient of the said callout, and it only seems right that the most polite fighter on the UFC roster is asked in the most polite way possible to fight it out in the Octagon.

The callout comes off the back of Northcutt stringing together his first UFC win streak, beating out Thibault Gouti (12-4) to a unanimous decision victory at UFC Fight Night 126 this past week. This recent win takes Northcutt to two wins in a row and his polarising figure in the sport has meant he continues to be the target of callouts (Mickey Gall, Chris Wade).

Diakiese, however, is facing his first career losing streak, dropping a decision loss to Drakkar Klose and tapping to a submission from Daniel Hooker. Previous to this Diakiese had lit up the scene in Europe with highlight reel knockouts and continued to that streak in the UFC demolishing his first three opponents to go 3-0 in the UFC.

With Northcutt now confirming his place is staying in the 155-pound division, a fight isn’t completely unlikely. Especially when you think about the match-up stylistically. Two fighters that have exciting stand-up styles with clear differences in how they approach the striking game. Diakiese with his explosive punching power and Northcutt with his range Karate style. Pitting them against each other would surely be a fight for the fans, and in my opinion, Diakiese would have the edge making this fight a great way for him to get back in the win column.

Sean Shelby, make it happen!

  1. Hi Frankie, realised Diakese is spelt Diakiese. Went in,amended and published, hope that’s ok. Url shouldn’t be an issue as redirect is working. If its best for me to mention before editing next time, let me know. Cheers!

    1. Ok, I never even noticed it was spelled wrong. It’s fine to edit when it’s published but it’s the title that’s shared to social media
