The UFC‘S light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions are loaded with cannons that are always primed for action. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet two twin cannons looking to blast away at their respective divisions.
Jared Cannonier – A professional since June 2011 and representing The MMA Lab, Jared Cannonier owns a 10-3 record in 13 career bouts consisting of five knockouts, three submissions and two decisions.
During his tenure with the UFC, Cannonier has earned one Performance of the Night bonus and one Fight of the Night bonus. In his MMA debut, he defeated Alton Prince via TKO.
Then Cannonier submitted Jason Coomes via armbar in the first round.He defeated his next two opponents in Matt Herringshaw and Joshua Ofiu. Next, Cannonier submitted Stephen Waalkes in the second round via rear naked choke. He defeated Jermaine Haughton via TKO in the first round.
At AFC 104, Cannonier defeated Tony Lopez via split decision.
In his second UFC appearance at UFN 86, he defeated France’s Cyril Asker via TKO in the first round and earned Performance of the Night in the process.
For his next UFC outing at The Ultimate Fighter season 24 finale Cannonier defeated Ion Cutelaba via unanimous decision and earned Fight of the Night in the process.
In his next UFC appearance at The Ultimate Fighter season 25 finale, he defeated Nick Roehrick via TKO in the third round.
For his next UFC appearance at UFN 129 on May 19, Cannonier will face the undefeated Dominick Reyes in a light heavyweight clash. Good luck Jared!
Justin Willis – A professional since June 2012 and representing American Kickboxing Academy, Justin Willis owns a 6-1 record in seven career bouts consisting of four knockouts and two decisions.
Willis is currently 2-0 with the UFC. At Global Knockout The Return, he defeated James Kirby via TKO. Willis also defeated Yusuke Kawaguchi via TKO in the first round.
At IGF 4, he defeated Rizvan Kuniev via unanimous decision. In his lone appearance with WSOF at WSOF 31, Willis defeated Juliano Coutinho via TKO in the second round.
In his UFC debut at UFN 113, he defeated James Mullheron via unanimous decision.
For his second UFC outing at UFC 218 Willis defeated Allen Crowder via TKO in the first round. In his third UFC showing at UFN 128 on April 21, he will face the heavy-handed Chase Sherman in a heavyweight affair. Good luck Justin!
