The former long reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones (22-1 MMA, 16-1-1 NC, UFC) last appearance inside the octagon was at UFC 214 against Daniel Cormier, where Jones won via KO in the third round. This bout was later overturned as a no-contest due to Jon testing positive for turinabol.
Never the less it’s nearly been 12 months since Jones was flagged by USADA for the anibolic steroid. As a result of this Jones could be facing a four year ban. He has already had his license revoked as well as being ordered to pay £150,000 fine.
Recently a fan on Twitter asked the former UFC light heavyweight title holder if he could fight for another organisation overseas, whilst his situation with the UFC is being contemplated.
In the following statement Jon responded to the fan saying:
“Yes I could go that route but I really don’t want to, I’m being patient.”
Malki Kawa of first round management who also happens to be the manager of “Bones” Jones says that USADA will make their final decision on his clients case by the end of this month.
Malki told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.
“I’m very confident we will have a decision on this thing by the end of this month.”
In January 2015 at UFC 182 Jon miraculously emerged triumphantly by way of a 5 round unanimous decision, against his resentful opponent.
Throughout Daniel Cormier’s career Jon Jones in the only man to trounce the current UFC reigning light heavyweight and heavyweight champion.
Jon Jones last official victory was against Ovince Saint Preux on April 23, 2016 at UFC 197 where he won by unanimous decision. The victory claimed Jones the interim lightweight heavyweight title. However, he was later stripped of the interim belt after testing positive for clomiphene and letrozole prior to his next scheduled bout with Cormier.
