It’s on! Tony Bellew moves back down to cruiserweight to take on undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. All for belts will be up for grabs, the WBO, WBA, WBC, IBF as well as the RING magazine belt.
The fight takes place on November 10th at the Manchester Arena.
Bellew was the WBC cruiserweight champion before he stepped up to heavyweight to fight David Haye twice. The 35 year old stopped Haye for the second time in March this year, it would seem Bellew is the underdog for this fight.
Bellew told Sky Sports, “I’m going into this fight with absolutely nothing to lose because the whole world thinks I’m going to get smashed. There is no greater test than Oleksandr Usyk, one of the most feared men in boxing.”
“ I have everything to gain. On November 10, I’m going to do something that no one has ever done before, I’m going to knock out an undisputed champion of the world.”
Usyk, who was the WBO champion, won the rest of the belts while competing in the World Boxing Super Series in the past year, he won the WBC when he beat Mairis Breidis in the semi-final and added the IBF and WBA crowns when he defeated Murat Gassiev in the final.
Usyk said to Sky Sports, “ I’ve been preparing for this fight for a long time and I’m delighted that we’ve got the venue and the date finalised. I cannot wait to fight in the UK.”
