In a bid to further develop Belgium’s fast-growing MMA scene, Cage Warriors have announced the formation of the CWA Brussels, the sixth Academy show the promotion has set up.

After staging two of the biggest MMA events in Belgium’s history at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp over the last 12 months, Cage Warriors will expand their presence in the country by investing in grass-roots talent in the years to come.

Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan has joined his company’s forces with the management team behind the Belgian-based ‘360 Promotion’ to offer fighters in the region fully regulated, medically safe and expertly matched events to showcase their skills.

“Belgium is becoming a hotbed for MMA and we’ve seen some serious talent rise out of there in recent years,” says Boylan. “The Cage Warriors Academy Brussels is the next step in providing Belgium with what it deserves – a legitimate and active MMA scene that serves everyone from the fighters to the fans. We and our broadcast partner Eleven want to work with the MMA communities in Flanders and Wallonia to build the sport for everyone”

The first CWA Brussels event will be held at the Casino Viage, right in the heart of Brussels, on February 2nd 2019 and will feature both amateur and professional talent.

Chris Genachte, head of the CWA Brussels, said: “In my opinion, the role of a promoter is to help athletes grow and evolve in their career while pleasing fans.

“Now that I have worked with Cage Warriors on multiple occasions as a manager, I know it is an ideal platform for athletes to successfully achieve any big goals or even dreams, they have set.

“Having a Cage Warriors Academy in Brussels represents a true stepping stone for the development of the sport here, and I am very excited to offer this to our Mixed Martial Artists!”

The Brussels Academy was formed after a successful run of CWA events across Europe in Denmark, Wales, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
