On November 17, Cage Warriors will make their debut appearance in Colchester with Cage Warriors 99. Here are three stars looking to make the promotions debut trip there a smashing success.
James Webb
Having earned all four of his victories as a professional via submission, James Webb has thus far showcased elite ground skills in his last two outings under the Cage Warriors banner, the most recent tap out being a second-round rear naked choke of Pelu Adetola at Cage Warriors 95 in July 2018.
What intrigues me about this contest is that while Cage Warriors 99 is a homecoming for Webb, this could also turn out to be his toughest test to date.
Expect Webb to be laser focused and use the crowds’ energy to earn a submission late in the third round. In Jason Radcliffe, he will be squaring off against an opponent who holds a 13-6 record with nine of those wins coming via knockout.
Blaine O’ Driscoll
A veteran of BAMMA, SBG Ireland’s Blaine O’ Driscoll rides into Cage Warriors 99 on the back of a 6-2 record. He is a very tactical fighter who is well versed is all aspects of MMA.
Expect O’ Driscoll to use his wide range of tools to earn a stoppage. What intrigues me about this title clash is that we have two guys who come from the most respected gyms in all of European MMA that has all the makings of an instant Cage Warriors classic.
O’ Driscoll’s last victory came at BAMMA 35 in May 2018 where he tapped out Aaron Robinson in the first round via rear naked choke.
In Cage Warriors flyweight champion Nathan Greyson, he is facing a foe who has earned all six of his pro wins via knockout.
Greyson claimed the title with a round three knockout of Sam Creasey at Cage Warriors 92 in March 2018.
Josh Abraham
With all of his pro wins ending in a finish, Josh Abraham heads into Cage Warriors 99 looking to make a statement.
He is an under the radar type of prospect for the Cage Warriors featherweight division with a mixture of submissions and knockouts.
This contest could determine who takes the next step forward at 145 pounds
In Steve Aimable, he is facing an opponent who is coming off a first-round TKO of Liam Bennett at Cage Warriors 97 in September 2018.
