MMA is known for intensive rivalries that had often transcended beyond the sport from time to time. Stephen Loman from the Philippines will be defending his Bantamweight world championship title at Brave 18 taking place on 16th November in Bahrain against Felipe Efrain from Brazil. Both the fighters and their fight teams took a moment ahead of the world championship title fight to express mutual respect and to take a stand on what the sport should really stand for.
Team Chute Boxe and Team Lakay met and greeted each other in a mutual show of respect while Stephen Loman and Felipe Efrain were cutting weight and preparing for the fight meters apart in the same gym. Both the teams also posed for a photograph to showcase their mutual admiration for each other. Stephen Loman is the youngest world champion in Brave Combat Federation and the first bantamweight world champion to be crowned at Brave Combat Federation, while Felipe Efrain is the fighter with the most number of knockouts in the Bantamweight division. Felipe had won knockout of the night bonus three times in Brave Combat Federation with his knockout during Brave 9 winning the knockout of the year award.
Diego Lima, Head Coach of Chute Boxe and Efrain’s sparring partner, Daniel “Willycat” Santos met Mark Sangiao, Head Coach of Team Lakay and Loman, Father of Stephen Loman. After the meet up the fighters resumed training and went ahead with their preparations. “Martial arts is about respect. Just because two people compete it doesn’t mean they need to hate each other. With this gesture, we showcase to the world how martial arts can change the world and connect fighters to a greater cause. We will give our fans a fight to remember and wish our opponent and his team to be at their best”, said Diego Lima, Head Coach of Chute Boxe, Brazil.
“Team Lakay stands for principles of discipline and respect. Our fighters are role models for the society and we are happy to see fighters and teams who believe in the same concept. We look forward to a great fight at Brave 18”, said Stephen Loman, Bantamweight World Champion at Brave Combat Federation.
