On December 1, the UFC will return to the land down under with UFC Fight Night 142. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a heavy-handed boomerang looking to deliver a show-stopping performance that the Australian faithful won’t soon forget. A professional since February 2016 and representing Stewie’s House of BJJ, Jim Crute holds a perfect 8-0 record comprised of three knockouts, three decisions and two submissions. Crute earned a contract with the UFC on week six of season two of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in 2018 and has also competed for Hex Fight Series.
In his MMA debut at Hex Fight Series 5, he submitted Ben Kelleher via armbar in the first round. Then at HFS 6, Crute defeated Mike Turner via unanimous decision. He defeated his next two opponents via TKO in Matt Eland at Hex Fight Series 7 and Nathan Reddy at Hex Fight Series 8 respectively. At Hex Fight Series 9, Crute tapped out Ben Kelleher for the second time in round one via arm triangle choke. He defeated Steven Warby via unanimous decision at Hex Fight Series 12. In his final appearance with Hex Fight Series at Hex Fight Series 13 Crute defeated Doo Hwan Kim via unanimous decision.
At Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series 6, he defeated Chris Birchler via TKO in the first round to earn his third knockout victory as a professional and also secured a contract with the UFC in the process. The victory also extended Crute’s unbeaten streak to eight to begin his professional career. In his debut outing with the UFC at UFN 142 on December 1 in his home nation of Australia, he will face submission specialist Paul Craig in a light heavyweight clash. Crute will be just one of the numerous Aussies that will be making his UFC debut at this event alongside fellow Aussies Suman Mokhtarian and various other lands down under talents looking to do their home nation proud. Good luck Jim!
