The North-East’s biggest MMA promotion, Made4TheCage, is set for a huge return on April 6th when it brings it’s 29th show ‘Immortals’ to Houghton-le-Spring’s Rainton Meadows Arena.
The show will be headlined by a professional title bout which will see the crowning of a new featherweight champion, as the highly-rated Cameron Hardy takes on former title challenger Harry Hardwick in a battle of two top North-East prospects.
Hardy, originally from Darlington, is a member of the Royal Navy and earned his title shot after defeating Bailey Gilbert at Made4TheCage27. Hardwick faced former champion Luke Ord, who has been forced to vacate the belt due to injury, at the same event last year. The Middlesbrough fighter lost a controversial split-decision which seemed to split the fans in half.
Dale Percival, matchmaker for Made4TheCage, thinks the match-up can be one of the promotion’s best ever: “These are two lads who continue to surprise us every time they step foot in that cage. Both competitors were involved in contenders for fight of the night the last time they appeared at Made4TheCage and their styles make for yet another intriguing contest.
“There’s some unbelievable match-ups on the card but it’s hard to look past these two warriors for the ‘show-stealer’”
Darlington’s Lanchana Green will also defend her Strawweight title against French challenger Claire Lopez. Green, a former TUF contestant, won her title at Made4TheCage27 back in June by defeating Bryony Tyrell via first round submission.
Popular North-East fighter Dean Braley is also in action facing Mikey Hogarth. Braley has hinted that this fight may be his swan song before retiring from the cage.
Former top ranked UK amateur Mitch Dobbins will kick off the main card in his highly anticipated first professional debut. Dobbins, who went 7-3 in his amateur career, was the sixth ranked amateur in the country before making the jump to the professional stage.
The card will also feature an extensive amateur card as Made4TheCage looks to continue its legacy of helping to grow grass-roots participation in North-East MMA.
Top ranked amateur Mark Ewan tops the undercard as he faces Farukh Aligadzhiev for the vacant UAR Lightweight Title. While UAR Featherweight Champion Magdi Gereev, the viral sensation who shot to fame with his spinning-heel kick knockout at Made4TheCage28 to capture the belt, faces popular local fighter Ashlee Harding in his first defence of the title.
Top North-East youngsters Jack Hardy and Kai Richmond are also both set to feature as they look to extend their great starts to their young careers, with the latter facing undefeated Middlesbrough prospect Macauley Peckitt for the UAR Bantamweight crown.
Tickets are available from new platform fightsmart.co.uk, where you will also be able to select the fighter you’re coming to support.
