Tony Ferguson vs Donald Cerrone lined up for June 8th

Donald Cerrone only fought last weekend however it seems he will be returning to the Octagon as early as next month.

Reports are emerging that the UFC are finalising a bout between Cerrone and former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson for June 8th at UFC 238.

Cerrone had called for a fight for the title or with Conor McGregor in his post fight interview and UFC president Dana White had suggested McGregor could be interested in the fight.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto took to Twitter to say multiple sources are saying that the Cerrone – Ferguson fight is close to being finalised.

Ferguson last fought in October when he defeated Anthony Pettis, he has since suffered some mental health issues which he said recently he had been cleared of to fight.

Ferguson will be looking to get back into title contention with a win in what could be considered a title eliminator match up.

A match up between current champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson has been scheduled on several occasions only for the fight to fall down due to injuries to both fighters. Ferguson will be hoping the fight can finally come to fruition should he be triumphant against the in form Cerrone.
