Cortez earned a contract with the UFC on week six of season three of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in 2019. She has also competed with V3 Fights, Invicta FC World Fighting Federation and Combate Americas.
At World Fighting Federation 36, she defeated Roxanne Caesar via unanimous decision. Then in her second appearance with Invicta Fighting Championships at Invicta FC 28 that also marked the promotion’s first visit to the state of Utah, Cortez faced Kaytlin Neil and defeated her via unanimous decision. For her lone outing with V3 Fights at V3 Fights 69 she submitted Monica Medina via rear-naked choke in the first round. At Combate Americas Cortez faced Karen Cedillo and defeated her via TKO in the second round. In her third and final appearance with Invicta Fighting Championships at Invicta FC 34, she defeated Erin Blanchfield via unanimous decision.
At Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series 6, Cortez faced Mariya Agapova and defeated her via unanimous decision to earn a contract with the UFC. The win also earned Cortez the fourth decision victory of her professional career.
