Jose Torres out to prove he’s the best Flyweight in the world at BRAVE CF 42

Jose ‘’Shorty’’ Torres is a part of the first generation of fighters at KHK MMA. Signed to His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s team as an amateur champion, the American athlete has proved he’s one of the best Flyweight in the world in his professional appearances, including his win over Amir Albazi back at BRAVE CF 23. Now he’s out to prove there’s no other Flyweight better than him.

In the main event of BRAVE CF 42, Torres faces his countryman Sean Santella in the first round of the BRAVE CF Flyweight Tournament. The champion of the eight-man tourney will become the first-ever BRAVE CF Flyweight world champion as eight of the best athletes under 125 pounds (57 kg) will fight to determine who stands above all.

Torres has had a difficult year in 2020 as he still looks to deal with the passing of his father, which made him pull out of his fight against Marcel Adur at BRAVE CF 29 last year. The grief is still strong, but he has been preparing to deal with that and with one of the most experienced fighters in the tournament.

With more than 30 pro fights to his name, ‘’Shorty Rock’’ Santella is one of the best Flyweights in America and, just like Torres, is looking to prove he belongs in the elite. He’s coming off three straight wins since his loss at BRAVE CF 14 and his confidence levels are at an all-time high.

He will need all the tools to beat Torres, widely recognized as a complete fighter – one who can strike well on the feet, with fast hands and crisp boxing, has a smothering wrestling game and great takedowns, and can also threaten with submissions.

Jose will also come into the first round of the Flyweight tournament on the back of one of his most well-rounded performances. Against Amir Albazi, Torres was able to showcase a little bit of everything. He knocked Albazi down with straight punches, survived an attempted submission, and dominated on the ground en route to a unanimous decision win.

Whoever wins this fight advances to the semifinals of the Flyweight tournament and edges one step closer to that elusive title fight where the winner will make history as the first-ever division world champion under the fastest-growing MMA organization’s banner.

Torres believes he’s the best fighter in the tournament, but when the bell rings and the cage door closes on September 24th, he will have to prove it.
