Justin Burlinson signs for Cage Warriors

Cage Warriors are pleased to announce the signing of Justin Burlinson to the promotion. Burlinson comes to Cage Warriors with a 5-0 record and has finished all five of those wins, with two knockouts and three submissions, and currently trains out of 4 Corners Combat in Liverpool under coach John Gillies, alongside fellow Cage Warriors standout and title challenger, Jack Grant. Speaking on the signing of Burlinson, Cage Warriors Graham Boylan said: “It’s great to have Justin sign for us. “Justin has shown he is not going to be an easy fight for anyone with those five finishes, and I look forward to seeing what he can do in Cage Warriors.” Burlinson himself is happy to have signed for the promotion, stating: “I am very happy to have signed with Cage Warriors after a long time on the sidelines. “I am coming to finish everyone I fight.”   Burlinson enters a welterweight division full of talent and has goals of claiming not just the welterweight title, but the 185lbs title as well saying: “I’m entering a very stacked division where everyone is top class. “My goal in Cage Warriors is to win the welterweight and middleweight titles on the path to signing for the UFC.”

Across The Pond Profile: Legacy Fighting Alliance fighter Mando Gutierrez

When you fall from the ranks of the unbeaten, it’s about how you rebound that counts. A professional mixed martial artist since September 2019 and representing Murcielago MMA, Mando Gutierrez owns a 5-1 record through six contests as a professional with all five of those victories coming via submission. Gutierrez has finished 100 percent of his wins during his time in the professional ranks with four first-round finishes under his belt. Gutierrez competed on the regional scene in his home state of Michigan including Total Warrior Combat and Lights Out Championship prior to making his promotional debut with Legacy Fighting Alliance in July 2020 at LFA 86. He is currently 2-1 under the banner of Legacy Fighting Alliance. with two finishes in those three appearances. The majority of Gutierrez’s victories during his pro career have come before the close of the opening round. In his MMA debut at Lights Out Championship 5, he submitted Mike Thompson in the first round via rear-naked choke. Gutierrez tapped out Kevin Walker jr in round two at Total Warrior Combat. At Lights Out Championship 7, he submitted Adam Kehr via rear-naked choke in the first round. Gutierrez tapped out Jeff Jepsen in round one via rear-naked choke at LFA 86. Then in his third outing with Legacy Fighting Alliance at LFA 106, he submitted William Elliott via rear-naked choke in the first round. The victory earned Gutierrez the fifth submission win of his professional career. He also picked up victory number two under the banner of Legacy Fighting Alliance in the process. With a finishing rate of 100 percent, Gutierrez is one viper whose air-choking squeeze leaves little room for tactical error!

New main event set for UFC Vegas 26 after TJ Dillashaw pulled out

Michelle Waterson vs Marina Rodriguez is set as the new main event for UFC Vegas 26 after former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw pulled out of his fight against Cory Sandhagen. It has been a week since the fight of two bantamweights was scratched from the Vegas card. There has been a talk of Sandhagen getting a new opponent after Dillashaw pulled out. But UFC officially went with Michelle Waterson vs. Marina Rodriguez. Waterson, who is (18-8), is coming off from an impressive split-decision victory over Angela Hill back in September. Whereas Marina Rodriguez, who is (13-1-2) in her MMA career, will be moving up to the 125-pound division for their main event on Saturday. Rodriguez’s last victory came in January when she defeated Amanda Ribas via TKO in the second round. The co-main event also got replaced in the UFC Vegas 26 card, following the release of Diego Sanchez. The new co-main event will now be Donald Cerrone vs. Alex Morono.
