Jon Jones should “keep his word,” according to UFC champion Blachowicz

Jones had agreed to fight Blachowicz before relinquishing his light heavyweight belt last year, but the pound-for-pound king does not appear to be interested in fighting in the weight class again.

But don’t worry: Blachowicz is eager to fight Jones at heavyweight if the JacksonWink product refuses to return to 205 pounds.

“Of course, I can beat him at heavyweight,” Blachowicz told retired UFC welterweight Mike Swick on the ‘Real Quick with Mike Swick’ podcast (h/t Kenny Lee of MMA News). “We can do this extra fight — not for the [heavyweight] title if he wants — no problem for me. I am going to be ready.”

Blachowicz is a champion who must defend his light heavyweight title, but the Pole maintains that fighting Jones is his #1 goal right now, regardless of whether or not a UFC belt is on the line.

“He promised me this fight and I will not stop talking about this, after when I beat Corey [Anderson], he promised me this fight,” Blachowicz said. “So he has to keep his word and let’s go, let’s do this. … Anywhere, any weight. I will catch him somewhere in the future.”

Blachowicz most recently defended his championship with a unanimous decision win over Israel Adesanya at UFC 259, and he will face Glover Teixeira at UFC 266 on September 25 at a TBA site.
