The return of the Lioness is nearly upon us as the most dominant UFC women’s 135 champ return to the octagon at UFC 265 where she will defend her belt against former TUF winner and #6 ranked Juliana Pena in the co-main event of the PPV on August 7th.
Amanda last fought in March where she scored a 1st round TKO victory over Megan Anderson which raised her featherweight and bantamweight title defences to 7. Amanda has fought at least once every year since turning pro and looks to remain active in 2021 barring any unfortunate events.
As for her opponent Juliana Pena, she is coming off a submission win over MMA veteran and Olympic silver medalist Sara Mcmann. In her last 3 fights, the “Venezuelan Vixen” is 2-1 but is without a doubt looking to score the biggest win of her career along with one of the greatest upsets in the history of MMA.
Amanda is currently riding a 12 fight win streak which has seen her dominate some of the best women in the world with names on her resume like Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm and the most feared female fighter of her time in Cris Cyborg. This success has catapulted her to become the face of women’s MMA and one of the most unbeatable fighters in her division.
Depending on the outcome of this fight many fans are left asking what is next for Amanda as she has little to nothing left to prove. Does she rematch Valentina Schevchenko or maybe she tries her striking skills in the boxing ring like so many other MMA fighters before her?
