Chandler v Gaethje may be off

Michael Chandler has doubts if his bout against Gaethje will go ahead, as planned in New York.

Michael “Iron” Chandler and Justin “The Highlight” Gaethje agreed to the sensational lightweight battle at UFC 268, Nov 6. The large issue is that New York has issued a new law that requires proof of vaccination for indoor events.

The former Bellator champion and UFC title challenger stated that he is not vaccinated and that he won’t be in time for UFC 268.

“Basically, they’re requiring you to be vaccinated and show proof of vaccination for indoor dining, indoor fitness and indoor performances and entertainment. Obviously, a UFC card, a UFC fight being thrown at Madison Square Garden is considered indoor entertainment and indoor performance. I will not be vaccinated at that point” Chandler on Instagram live.

This raises questions of if Chandler will be able to compete at all for UFC 268 or if the venue will still be held in New York, breaking the tradition of a UFC event in Madison Square Garden in November.
