In his MMA debut at Hoosier Fight Club 26, he took on Jake Lamb and defeated him via TKO in the first round. Askar also defeated his next four opponents that included victories over Sergio Pavon and Brandon Emmons. He defeated James Blair via unanimous decision at Titan FC 45. At VFC 60 Askar defeated Jessie Parker via TKO in round one. Then in his promotional debut with Legacy Fighting Alliance at LFA 50, he defeated Derrick Mundell via unanimous decision. Askar defeated Dennis Dombrow via unanimous decision in the main event of Hoosier Fight Club 37. He tapped out Alberto Martinez Jr via rear-naked choke in the first round at Island Fights 60. Askar defeated Kevin Wirth via unanimous decision in the headliner of LFA 92.
For the main event of LFA 118, he defeated Brazilian Leandro Gomes via a split decision. The victory earned Askar the sixth decision win of his professional career. He also picked up win number three under the Legacy Fighting Alliance banner in the process.
