UFC Debutants Tatsuro Taira and Carlos Candelario Matchup April 30th

UFC Fight Night 208 hosts a thrilling Flyweight bout between promotional debutants Tatsuro Taira and Carlos Candelario April 30th, per ufcstats.com.

Fighting out of Naha, Okinawa, Tatsuro Taira holds an unblemished 10-0 professional record that includes eight stoppages (3 KO/TKO, 5 submissions). The 22-year-old notably won the Shooto Flyweight Championship at Shooto 2021 Vol.4, July 4th 2021, following a first-round submission of Ryuya Fukuda. Taira last fought November 6th 2021 at Vale Tudo Japan 2021, claiming a first round rear-naked choke submission of Chilean Alfredo Muaiad. Seven of the Japanese prospect’s eight professional stoppages have ended in the first-round.

Holding an 8-1 professional record, Carlos ‘The Cannon’ Candelario earned a deserved UFC contract through Dana White’s Contender Series August 31st 2021, under unique circumstances; Candelario earned a contract despite losing the bout. The controversial split decision loss to Victor Altamirano presented Dana White a predicament, who admitted “I gave Carlos round 1 and 2, and obviously Victor dominated round 3… it was an absolute dog fight”. For the first time in Contender Series history, White awarded contracts to both the winning and losing fighter. The 30-year-old, fighting out of Connecticut, holds five professional stoppages to his name, four of which ended in the first round.
