Aaron Givens 10-2-0 is an English amateur Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Flyweight division, representing ACE MMA. he has competed for MMA Total Combat, Machine MMA, Rise and Conquer Fight Show, Made4TheCage Fighting Championships, Caged Steel, Almighty Fighting Championship and is about to make his debut for X-Treme Kombat.
I’d like to start this off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today Aaron, I’d also like to congratulate you on your recently announced amateur Featherweight title opportunity at XK15.
I hope training camp has been going smoothly in the build-up to your highly anticipated return to the cage?
“Training has been going really well. We’re carrying some big momentum as a team and I can’t wait to keep the ball rolling.”
It has been a very busy and successful time of late for the warriors at ACE MMA, an opportunity to bring back gold to your team is a great compliment to all the hard work that’s done there. How does it feel to be part of this phenomenal team?
“Being a part of ACE is a privilege and something that I don’t take for granted. The wealth of knowledge and experience we have in our coaching team alone is second to none, which is proved daily by the amount of talent we have breaking through the amateur scene at the moment.”
Title opportunities are always the ultimate goal for Mixed Martial Artists such as yourself. How did it feel when you got the call to potentially become the king of the XK amateur Featherweight division?
“To be honest, yes fighting for a title is a great feeling but this is just a stepping stone on my long journey of making it to the top of MMA. So yes I am excited and I can’t wait to bring the gold back to the team. With the mindset and the Knowledge that this title is not the end, I’ve got so much more to achieve.”
The last fight fans got to witness you in action was back in November 2021 Rise and Conquer 9. Going the distance in the all-out brawl and taking victory via split decision over a very well rounded opponent in Paul Hartburn.
Your opponent’s didn’t seem to faze you as you showed immense control throughout the bout. Now you’ve had time to reflect on that incredible victory, what did you take from your war with Paul?
“My fight with Paul was probably the most fun I’ve had in a fight. He posed some challenges but I felt like I handled those challenges and was able to showcase the entertaining style I aim to bring to the cage. That fight has helped me build confidence in my skills and mindset but most importantly it created momentum. I honestly believe that it’s going to take someone special to stop the momentum that team ACE is building.”
Next up, you have the opportunity to add to your title-winning amateur journey at XK15, taking on ASW’s stand out Oliver Tero April 9th. With your bout drawing near as you make the finishing touches to your fight plan, have you managed to take the opportunity to do some research on your opponent leading up to your scheduled meeting?
“I’ve had a brief look to see what he’s about, but I’m not fixating on what he brings to the fight. I’m focused on improving myself and making sure the best version of myself shows up on the night. If I do that, the win and everything else will take care of itself.”
As plans for a very busy year of cards set out around the UK, practitioners all across the country are preparing to go to war in the cage, many ACE also. Are there any matchups in particular that you’re looking forward to witnessing along the 2022 calendar?
“I’m just excited to see all the belts team ACE will pick up and defend this year. It’s strap season.”
I wish you all the best for April 9th Aaron and look forward to watching your amateur journey unfold.
Last but not least do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to give a shout-out to?
“My message to the fans is just to not take their eyes off this fight, it’s going to be fireworks. also big shoutout to my sponsors.”
