Across The Pond Profile: Gilbert Urbina

In the family circle of mixed martial arts, the family that fights together stays together as one united unit. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a bull of raging color and fierce pride ready to uphold his family’s honor and charge out of the pen with his seeing red style. A professional mixed martial artist since May 2014 and representing BMF Ranch, Gilbert Urbina holds a 6-2 record through eight professional bouts comprised of three decisions, two submissions, and one knockout. Urbina appeared on The Ultimate Fighter 29 as a member of Team Alex in 2021. He has also fought for several other promotions over the course of his career as a pro-MMA fighter including Legacy Fighting Alliance. Urbina has finished three out of his six victories during his time in the professional ranks.

In his MMA debut at STFC 29 Mayday, he defeated Salvador Gonzalez via unanimous decision. Urbina defeated Jared Perez via TKO in the first round at STFC 32. Then at Hero FC best of the best 4, he defeated Roldan Abundis via unanimous decision. Urbina submitted Anthony Tatum in round two via rear-naked choke at Hero FC best of the best 5. He tapped out Noel Ligon via rear-naked choke in the first round in his promotional debut with Legacy Fighting Alliance at LFA 7. Urbina defeated Angelo Trevino via unanimous decision.

In 2021, he was selected to be a part of The Ultimate Fighter 29 cast at 135 pounds and was the fourth bantamweight pick of Team Alex. Urbina submitted Michael Gilmore via rear-naked choke in round one to advance to the semi-finals. He has brought back to compete at the finale after the original finalist Tresean Gore, suffered a knee injury. Urbina is one bull whose flame remains even when the deck is loaded against him and cards do not fall his way!
