Across The Pond Profile: Nathan Kelly

The changing of the guard is a time-honored tradition in mixed martial arts when the soldiers of the past decide to wave the white flag and gallop on to greener pastures. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a stallion of starlight ready to raise the banner as Irish MMA ushers in a new generational class. A professional mixed martial artist since July 2017 and representing SBG Ireland, Nathan Kelly holds a 5-2 record over the span of seven professional bouts comprised of three knockouts, one submission, and one decision. Kelly has competed for several promotions during his career as a pro-MMA fighter including Bellator MMA. He has finished four out of his five victories during his time in the professional ranks. Kelly has gone to the scorecards a single time during his professional career, sweeping them clean across the board in that lone instance. 100 percent of Kelly’s finishes during his time as a professional mixed martial artist thus far have come inside the distance, with four first-round finishes under his belt. Kelly has also fought for various promotions in his home nation of Ireland including Akuma Fighting Championship and Clan Wars.

At Akuma FC 12, he submitted Mark Andrew via rear-naked choke in the first round. Kelly knocked out Rogger Lopez in round one at Clan Wars 41. Then at Clan Wars 42, he knocked out Shaqeme Rock in the first round. Kelly defeated Scott Pedersen via unanimous decision in his one and only appearance with Bellator MMA at Bellator 275.

At CFC Malta, he defeated Aridane Romero Rodriguez via TKO in the first round. The win earned Kelly the third knockout victory of his professional career. He also picked up his fourth first-round finish in the process. The state of Irish MMA is brighter than the blue sky thanks to this heavy-hammered thoroughbred of cracking thunder!
