Karl Albrektsson – “I am training with top guys”

Karl ‘King’ Albrektsson 13-3-0 is a Swedish professional Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Light-heavyweight division, representing Pancrase Gym Sweden. He has competed for MGSWM, International Ring Fight Arena, RIZIN Fighting Federation, Superior Challenge, and Bellator MMA.

I’d like to kick things off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today Karl, and also to congratulate you on your inclusion to Scott Coker’s return to Dublin for the stacked Bellator 285 card.

I hope your training camp has been going well in the build-up to your highly anticipated return to the cage?

“Training has been tough, but I feel it’s paying off. I feel very sharp right now and I am getting better with each fight, so I am bringing the ruckus on the 23rd.”

As September draws ever so closer, what steps have you been taking to make sure you leave Dublin with your arm raised and your victorious ways under the Bellator banner continue?

“I am putting my best effort into my schedule. And I put my best effort into structuring my schedule. I am training with top guys from different big organisations and with top competitors from different sports. I am also working with a performance coach who does a lot of work with NHL athletes. I feel this will all pay off at Bellator 285.”

you once again prepare to go to war under the Bellator banner, and the sharpening of your proverbial tools for battle enters its final stretch towards your walk to the cage at the 3 Arena. What does it mean to you to be a part of one of the world’s leading MMA organisations?

“It means a lot for my pride and prestige, but most of all it gives me the opportunity to support my family. To put a roof over my children’s head, clothes on their backs and food in their tummies.”

September 23rd is set to be your fourth outing with Scott Coker’s Bellator, securing two out of 3 victories in your past two inclusions has left the fans wanting more.

You are set to take on Dublin’s own Karl Moore, who also hopes to keep his winning streak alive after a successful outing over Lee Chadwick back at Bellator 227 back in 2019. What do you make of Karl in the build-up to your scheduled meeting?

“Mr Moore in my eyes, is a well-rounded fighter, a tough guy. But he has not fought since 2019 so we will see what he brings. Either way, I will welcome him back to the cage with a KO loss on his record.”

After signing a new multi-fighter with Bellator, this will be Karl’s first of many more to come, his explosive power is a test for any athlete that takes the walk to the proverbial Lion’s den, and one of many phenomenal acquisitions by Scott Coker and his team. Making an impression on his many outings since debuting back in 2019, Karl is looking for a successful 2022.

Many successful outings to Dublin have made Bellator’s visits across the pond something fight fans highly anticipate their return. Many Phenomenal athletes such as yourself are set to take centre stage on what is set to be one of the most exciting visits to date.

Other than your inclusion on the night are there any matchups in particular that you’re looking forward to witnessing?

“All of them really, I’m always keeping an eye on my weight class. Looking forward to seeing Romero vs Manhoef play out.”

I have to agree, this has to be one of the most stacked cards on the MMA calendar year. Personally, I can’t wait for the Main-Event Henderson vs Queally, and of course, the Prelims. Never miss the Prelims, you could miss something special.

I wish you all the best for September Karl and I look forward to witnessing you out there.

Last but not least, do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to give a shout-out to?

“Thanks to everyone for your continuous support, Without you guys none of this is possible. Please enjoy the show!”
