Kadeem Perkins – “I’ll be in top form on the night”

Fightstar Championship 23 has been the talking point for many fight fans as we draw closer to what is set to take the roof off of the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.

Many exceptional amateurs and well-rounded professionals are set to do battle in the capital on November 19th. Kadeem Perkins is one of the phenomenal warriors set to take centre stage when Fightstar Championship returns.

Kadeem ‘Chef’ Perkins (4-3-0) is an English amateur Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Bantamweight division, representing GB Top Team. He has competed for Lion Fighting Championship, Victory Fights, Olympus Fight Series, Cage Warriors South-East and Fightstar Championship.

I took a trip down to Brad Pickett’s Great Britain Top Team to speak with Kadeem as he prepares for the war, when he takes on George Caruana in an amateur Bantamweight barn burner.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to speak with me today Kadeem, and also to congratulate you on your upcoming inclusion to the Fightstar Championship 23 card.

“Thank you for having me man, appreciate it.”

Anytime mate.

I hope training has been going well in the build-up to your scheduled return to the Fightstar cage?

“Yeah, training’s been going well. working a lot with Barry the boxing coach, Brad and one of my training partners Nik Bagly. Working well and working hard so yeah, it’s going fine.”

I’m glad it’s all going well, with such a great team behind you. Seems like you guys have such a laugh here too.

“Hahaha, yeah.”

From my many visits here, it’s plain to see you are more than just an elite set of warriors, what does it mean to you to be part of Brad Pickett‘s Great Britain Top Team?

“It means a lot, he has faith in all of us to carry his forward and to bring the next generation into the fighting industry.”

As previously stated, you will return to Fightstar Championship after competing with Raj Singh’s organisation at the tail end of 2019.

Was an opportunity to showcase your skill set at Fightstar once again an opportunity you were excited for?

“Definitely yeah, I’ve fought for Fightstar like 3 times now. When I go there the atmosphere is fun, I’m from South London as well so it’s a nice local show, it’ll be fun.”

Saves all the travelling, with more time to prepare haha.

“Saves all the the travelling, yeah.”

You are set to face off against George Caruana, a bout no fan in attendance will want to blink for.

What do you make of George in the build-up to your scheduled meeting on November 19th?

“I know George has got good experience, an all rounded fighter. I’ve seen he’s a pressure fighter, it’ll be a good fight. But I just think I’ll be in top form on the night.”

Great confidence to have going in mate.

Fightstar Championship 23 is set to be one of the biggest card’s in its illustrious history, with Raj Singh and his team piecing together a card to outdo all previous.

Other than your inclusion on the night are there any matchups in particular that you’re looking forward to witnessing?

“I’m looking forward to witnessing Nathen Jones fight, I’ve trained with him on the Kickboxing scene so I’m definitely looking forward to that on the Main-Event. I’m not sure if he’s still fighting but also Bane Dundavan, I’ll be looking forward to his striking skills, I’ve been a fan of Bane for many years.”

I hope he gets to fight. I caught him at the last Fightstar, a great athlete. Also looking forward to Nathens fight, what a main event.

It’s been a great pleasure speaking with you today Kadeem, I wish you all the best for November and the remainder of your training.

“Thank you man, I appreciate you coming to the gym to interview me, I appreciate you.”

My pleasure mate.

Last but not least do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to give a shout-out to?

“I just wanna give a big shout-out tk my team for always having my back, supporting me and pushing me to the limits. It’s gonna be a good show, so stay tuned.”
