GLORY: COLLISION 5 – Rico Verhoeven to defend his title against no. 1 contender Antonio Plazibat

GLORY, the world’s premier kickboxing organisation, announced today that Heavyweight Champion Rico Verhoeven will defend his Title against no. 1 contender Antonio Plazibat in 2023 at GLORY: COLLISION 5. Over 27,000 fans are welcome to witness the historic event in person.

The date and venue will soon be announced.

Verhoeven is coming off a Fight of the Year winning battle against Jamal Ben Saddik in October of 2021. After being dropped and suffering an orbital fracture early in the second round, Verhoeven rallied to stop Ben Saddik late in the fight and defended his Heavyweight Title for the 10th time.

His next Title Defense will come against Plazibat, who solidified his status as the Heavyweight Division’s top contender after defeating Raul Catinas by knockout in the main event of GLORY 82 last November.

GLORY’s intention was to have this fight take place next March, but due to an injury of Rico Verhoeven, COLLISION 5 will be postponed for a few months. Depending on the course of Verhoeven’s recovery, which is top priority, date and location will soon be announced.

This fight will be the fifth edition in the history of GLORY: COLLISION, a series of monumental heavyweight fights. Full fight card information will be announced in the coming weeks.

Pre-sale for GLORY: COLLISION 5 is now live on GLORYKickboxing.com.

COLLISION 5 will be streamed live on Videoland in the Netherlands. For viewing information outside of the Netherlands, visit GLORYKickboxing.com.
