‘King’ George Hardwick will make the second defence of his Cage Warriors 155lb title, when he faces Luxembourg’s surging Yann Liasse in Manchester.
The bout will serve as the main event of CW 152, on Saturday, April 15th, at the BEC Arena.
Harwick (11-1) last saw action in November at CW: Unplugged at the BT Sports Studio, turning back a spirited challenge from rugged veteran Chris Bungard.
The Middlesbrough man will now look to make back-to-back defences of the title he captured in dramatic fashion against Kyle Driscoll last summer, as he welcomes CW newcomer Liasse to the promotion.
Strapping on the famous yellow gloves for the first time, Luxembourg’s Yann Liasse (9-1) is undefeated in his last six outings.
Dynamic on both the feet and the mat, Liasse holds wins over fellow prospects Oskar Szczepaniak and Adrian Gralak, with his lone career defeat coming at the hands of the formidable Magomed Magomedov in 2021.
“George Hardwick has proved himself against top lightweights from the USA and UK to win and defend his title…” said CW President Graham Boylan.
“Now it’s time for him to test his mettle against one the best Europe has to offer in Yann Liasse.”
“Both these guys are proven finishers wherever the action goes…the only prediction I’m going to make for this fight is that the fans in Manchester will be on their feet by the time it’s over!”
The bout joins a trio of previously announced contests on the card; a lightweight tilt between recent title challenger Chris Bungard and Gavin Hughes, a bantamweight thriller pitting Liam Gittins against Rory Evans and the return of surging prospect Reece McEwan, as he faces Holland’s Daan Duijs.
Also confirmed to appear are Next Generation trio Nathan Fletcher, Adam Cullen and Luke Riley, plus local favourites Andy Clamp and Manny Akpan.
Further bouts for CW 152, which airs live on UFC Fight Pass and international broadcast partners, will be announced in the coming weeks.
