The Professional Fighters League, the fastest growing and most innovative sports league in the world, held official weigh-ins for Week 8 of the 2023 PFL Challenger Series, featuring fighters with a second chance at earning a PFL contract. PFL Challenger Series is available on Fubo Sports, the live, free-to-consumer TV network from sports-first live TV streaming platform fuboTV Inc. (NYSE: FUBO).
The main event for Week 8 of the PFL Challenger Series will be Week 1 finalist Kendly “The Highlander” St. Louis of the United States taking on Week 4 competitor Paulo Laia of Brazil in a lightweight matchup. St. Louis, who came close to taking home a PFL contract in Week 1, weighed in at 156.8-pounds. Laia, meanwhile, weighed in at 156.0-pounds. St. Louis missed weight, however the bout will proceed at a catchweight of 157-pounds.
Further action will see women’s featherweights go head to head, as Jackie “The Hybrid” Cataline of the United States faces Evelyn “Espartana” Martins of Brazil. Cataline weighed in at 144.6-pounds as she looks to follow up on her TKO win in Week 2. Martins, meanwhile, weighed in at 144.8-pounds as she tries to remain undefeated in her MMA career.
Also on the card, American heavyweights head to the PFL SmartCage, as Denzel “Luke Fox” Freeman faces Raiden Kovacs. Freeman, who weighed in at 260.4-pounds, finally gets his opportunity in the 2023 PFL Challenger Series after being tapped as an alternate during Week 3. Kovacs, meanwhile, weighed in at 263.4-pounds for his debut.
Kicking off the action will be up-and-coming welterweight prospects, Sadeck Sanon taking on Ali “The Silent Assassin” Omar. Sanon weighed in at 170.8-pounds as he looks to extend his winning streak. Omar, meanwhile, weighed in at 170.4-pounds for the fight.
The scheduled bout between Quemuel Ottoni and Chris Brown has been canceled after both fighters failed to gain clearance to compete.
