For UFC newcomers, accepting short notice bout agreements with the promotion can either be the difference between feast or famine. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a copperhead of blinding power ready to suffocate the opposition as the UFC‘S newest battleguard of all-out blitz. A professional mixed martial artist since February 2020 and representing The MMA Lab, Marcus McGhee owns a 7-1 record over eight bouts comprised of six knockouts and one submission. McGhee fought for several organizations including Legacy Fighting Alliance prior to debuting with the UFC On ESPN Plus 81 in April 2023. He has finished all seven of his victories over the course of his career as a professional MMA fighter. McGhee is 1-0 under the UFC banner with one finish under his belt for the organization. 100 percent of McGhee’s wins during his time in the professional ranks have been inside the distance. In his MMA debut at RUF MMA 38, he faced Nick Alwag and knocked him out in the first round. McGhee also defeated Ricardo Maynez via technical knockout in round two at RUF MMA 40. Then at RUF MMA 42, McGhee knocked out Raphael Montini de Lima in the second round. He knocked out Rodney Mondala in round one at RUF MMA 47. He defeated Abram Sellars via technical knockout in round three. McGhee defeated Luciano Ramos via knockout in the second round on the main card of LFA 149 to earn his sixth knockout win as a professional.
In his debut outing with the UFC on the preliminary card of UFC On ESPN Plus 81, he tapped out Journey Newsom via rear-naked choke in round two. The victory earned McGhee the first submission win of his professional career along with his first win under the UFC banner. He also picked up a performance of the night bonus in the process. At 7-1, there is indeed a touch of serpentine rage when McGhee unleashes a venomous beatdown!
