Francis Ngannou will not be joining ONE Championship, according to CEO Chatri Sityodtong. Despite earlier reports that Ngannou would be meeting with Sityodtong to discuss an offer from ONE, the company has since withdrawn from the bidding process.
In a statement, Sityodtong said that after careful reflection, the company decided not to submit its final offer. While he wished Ngannou continued success and happiness, he said he and Ngannou were not fully aligned on non-financial matters, which led to a lack of alignment.
Ngannou is a former UFC heavyweight champion who parted ways with the promotion with a six-fight winning streak, having defeated notable fighters like Ciryl Gane, Stipe Miocic, Junior dos Santos, and Cain Velasquez. Sityodtong did not provide further details about his conversation with Ngannou or what led to his decision not to submit an offer.
Ngannou has not yet commented on the meeting with the head of ONE Championship.
