Across The Pond Profile: PFL MMA fighter Connor Hughes

In any organization, fighters can erase all the pressure that comes with being unbeaten by living up to the hype on something other than skill alone. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a Doberman of the dockyards ready to make a top dog entrance as PFL Europe heads to the German capital for their second event. A professional mixed martial artist since July 2021 and representing The MMA Academy Liverpool, Connor Hughes holds an undefeated 7-0 record comprised of four submissions, two knockouts and one decision, Hughes has fought for UK Fighting Championships and Almighty Fighting Championship. The majority of Hughes’s victories over the course of his career as a professional MMA fighter have been inside the distance. He has finished six out of his seven wins during his time in the professional ranks. Hughes has gone to the scorecards a single time during his pro career, sweeping it clean across the board on that occasion.

In his MMA debut at UK Fighting Championships 14, he knocked out Danny Tyler in the first round. Hughes submitted Aaron Gray in round one via rear-naked choke at Almighty Fighting Championship 19. Then at UK Fighting Championships 17, he tapped out Marcin Zembala via rear-naked choke in the first round. Hughes submitted Javier Cuestas Rojas in round one via rear-naked choke at UK Fighting Championships 18. At UK Fighting Championships 20 he tapped out Jocimar Ferreira via rear-naked choke in the first round to earn his fourth submission win as a professional. Hughes defeated Marcus Rodrigues da Costa via technical knockout in round three at UK Fighting Championships 21 to secure his second knockout victory as a professional.

At UK Fighting Championships 22, he defeated Everton Cruz via unanimous decision. The win earned Hughes the first decision victory of his professional career in addition to extending his undefeated streak to seven to begin his career in the process. Hughes is a prospect that allows his skills to speak for him and has plenty of bite of bite to back them up!
