UFC 294 Results and Review: Prelims

Abu Azaitar vs Sedriques Dumas:

Review :

Round 1, Azaitar gets Dumas to the ground with a straight right hand knocking him to the ground. Dumas then takes control with a takedown and shots from half guard winning the round. Wild swinging strikes from Dumas are countered by Azaitar. Who lands heavy shots especially when countering Dumas leg kicks. Solid counters won the round for Azaitar. Tied up into round 3, big round needed. Dumas works his long jab rocking Azaitar then making him peddle back. Dumas’s boxing improves using feints and the jab making Azaitar bite on them. Huge head-kick lands from Dumas winning him the round. Using boxing fundamentals was effective such as  the feints and jabs.



Sedriques Dumas Defeats Abu Azaitar. A unanimous decision, 29-28 on all scorecards.


Javid Basharat vs Victor Henry:


Big spinning side kick from Basharat to set the pace. Leg kicks utilized well by both to open up. Basharat displays his great boxing and teeps down the middle similar to Sean O’Malley. Takedown attempt from Basharat good defense by my opinion, Basharat won the round. Round 2 starts with a low blow from Basharat from an inside leg kick. Doctor calls the fight off, Henry couldn’t continue and was said to have been vomiting.


Javid Basharat vs Victor Henry was declared a no contest.


Mohammad Yahya vs Trevor Peek:


Peak uses good pressure swinging wildly and drops Yahya. Peek then gets a takedown and lands ground and pound. Leg kicks are the next weapon for Peek dropping Yahya. Yahya looked for a D’arce choke in the last 10 seconds but Peek is saved  by the bell.10-9 Peek. Continuous pressure poured on by Peek now seeking hooks. Leg kicks again drop Yahya; very effective. Peek’s aggression proved a huge issue finding punches to the head and body. Into Round 3, Peek fins a big overhand over the top. More hooks land in the pocket before getting a takedown and dominating another round. Easy win for Peek over the hometown hero


Trevor Peek Defeats Mohammad Yahya. A majority decision. 29-28,30-27,30-27 on the scorecards.

Tim Elliott vs Muhammad Mokaev:


Round 1, Elliott opens up with a takedown and landing elbows before getting up to their feet. Mokaev looks for takedowns but results in sprawls and a guillotine. Despite, ending on top Elliott continues his barrage with elbows from the bottom. therefore, winning him the round. Round 2 starts with a takedown from Mokaev into Elliott’s guillotine. More elbows from bottom for Elliott. Mokaev then controls and dictates the fight from top position, leading to a big shot from stack guard. Arm triangle attempt from Elliott leads to Mokaev brutally throwing him down and ending the round on top. 10-9 Mokaev, level into the last. Another guillotine attempt from Elliott from a Mokaev takedown but fails again. Knee from Elliott to Mokaev whilst on the ground means a timeout. Position reset and Mokaev earns top position with great skill reversing position. Mokaev then finds a head and arm choke to get another submission victory. Mokaev ‘s spectacular submissions and determination to get out of many submission attempts.


Muhammad Mokaev Defeats Tim Elliott. Another submission win in the third round.
